In the Begining

My husband and I have 2 daughters, Samara 9 and Cassi 4. My boys were to be the final addition to our family and after the intial shock of twins exactly what we wanted, my longed for sons... Russ and I were astonished to find out that I was pregnant. We had discussed it but hadn't yet made a final decision. We had thought we would just see what happened over the next few months but I became pregnant in my next cycle. We were on holidays at the beach and I was feeling a bit off so I lay down on the bed with my then 7 yr old. She put her head on my stomach for awhile then sat up and told me I had babies in my belly. I just laughed at her at the time but a couple of days later I happened to walk past a chemist, so I popped in and bought a test. At this stage I hadn't even missed a period but thought "oh well, might as well". I was in shock when the second pink line appeared. When we returned home, I went to the women's clinic and had it confirmed. The GP also used a portable ultrasound machine but had trouble finding anything so I went to have blood tests and was told that I was 6-7 weeks pregnant. I had my nuchal fold test on Samara's 8th birthday. My husband stayed at home with the girls, so I went on my own. I clearly remember the technician saying 'this is the baby's head, and this is the other one'. What a soul dropping moment, I think I said something smart like "are you sure?" and then "are there 2 bodies to go with those 2 heads?" Not my finest moment...
